The David Sweeney Memorial Foundation Mission

Dave Sweeney was a healthy and happy man until he was diagnosed in 2020 with Adrenocortical Carcinoma (ACC).

Adrenocortical Carcinoma (ACC) is a rare and aggressive cancer that strikes about 1,000 people a year in the US. Dave, while fighting his own battle against this challenging disease, extended his war against ACC by willing to participate in any medical trials that were offered. Unfortunately Dave’s cancer was too far advanced to participate but his goal and hope was to try to help all the other people walking in the same shoes as himself. As a family, in memory of Dave, we have decided to start a foundation to keep the fight focused and strong in his honor.

Proceeds raised by the David Sweeney Memorial Foundation will be used to support the efforts of research facilities such as The University of Michigan Adrenal Cancer Program, and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where Dave was being treated. We hope these funds will promote the coordination of resources between other institutions across the country to fight the battle and hopefully find a cure one day.

Additionally, we hope to use these funds to carry on Dave’s legacy and acts of kindness here locally in our community.
